Here is a “after” picture of Grandma White’s machine. The decals silvered during cleanup, but I made the choice to allow that to happen. I wanted the machine as clean as possible since it is one I plan to use a lot. I believe Dad is done with the cabinet restoration, too, but I don’t have pictures of it yet.

Beautiful, and what a treasure to restore a family heirloom, and to have your dad help in the project. You’ll have to make him something special as one of the first projects stitched on this beauty.
If you recoat the machine with genuine shellac, the decals will turn gold again. The old machines were originally coated with shellac.
